Sunday Afternoon
Jack was so tired after John finished roughhousing that he took a 3 hour nap that afternoon.
The Garage Door
Jack is fascinated by our garage door. He will literally squeal with delight every time it opens or closes. You would think he'd get tired of it, but this has been going on for months. What must it be like to see life through the eyes of a toddler?

MMM McDonalds!
While Paige filled in for me at work, Jack and I ventured out to get some lunch. Lunch out with Jack is pretty painless. Just find a place that serves food that goes well with ketchup and you are good to go.Lately Jack has started to pay attention to where we are going. For instance, when we pass the church he recognizes it as school. When he sees Franklin Cruise, he knows that he will get to play with some toys and climb the stairs. When he saw McDonald's he knew he was getting food.

By the time the picture below was taken, Jack had already plowed through 4 chicken nuggets and several french fries. His main drive being the ketchup not the actual food. I decided that he had had enough to eat and that I would eat my cheeseburger. When I unwrapped it, Jack exclaimed "Wow, MMMMM, good, good!" and two little ketchup covered hands reached out to grab it and cram it in his mouth. Watching him, his face seemed to say, "If only my mouth was bigger, if only I had more teeth."
He actually didn't eat that much of the burger but he acted like we never feed him anything. In the words of Sally Frame, "French fries are just a vehicle for ketchup." Jack couldn't have said it better if he could talk.Happy Friday

Say What?

John and I are finally starting to understand some of the babble that constantly is coming out of Jack's mouth! He has been trying so hard to communicate with us and I know he is thinking "Good grief, Mom and Dad . . . aren't you listening to what I am saying?!" Here are some of the phrases that we can decipher:
"Where Daddy go?" John was in the den and Jack was in his highchair in the kitchen. He looked at me and said "Where Daddy go?" just as plain as day. "He's in the den" came out of my mouth before I realized that Jack had just asked me a question and I actually understood it!
"cracker"
"Wow or Whoa" This is what he says when he gets really excited. It is kind of a combination of both words. Yesterday I brought home a toy from Kmart and as soon as he saw it, he started saying "Whow, Whow, Whow." It is so cute!
"go-go" This one is as of today at K and D's house. We think it means "car."
Encouraging the Arts
As part of the newly decorated den (it is almost done . . . we still lack hanging some pictures and several passes with the swiffer) Jack has his very own "Jack sized" table on which he can draw and color and create. We tried it out this morning and I think he likes it. He was very interested in taking the crayons out of the box and putting them back in, but he did manage to scribble some color on the paper. Watch out van Gogh!
