Tickle Tickle

Who needs a nap when you can play on the slide!

Can you tell one of my New Year's Resolutions was to keep my blog updated regularly?!
We spent the morning in Tupelo running errands and eating lunch with Terri. (who we miss very much!) At about 2:30 when I realized that Jack was nowhere near ready to take his afternoon nap, I loaded him up in the car and we headed to the playground. It was a beautiful, sunny, day and he needed to spend some time outdoors. When we first arrived at the park, he wasn't too sure about the slide and wouldn't go down without holding onto my hand. But after about 30 minutes, he was pushing my hands away and wanted to go down all by himself. He LOVED the swings and would laugh every time we got high in the air. Exhausted after 45 minutes of hard playing, he has been asleep ever since we got back home. Success!

Puppets!

Jack and his puppets

Today after lunch, Jack and I played with his puppets that I made him for Christmas. Since his attention span is about 5 seconds, there are no elaborate plays being produced. Right now, we are just working on animal names and sounds. He loves the monkey and gives it kisses every time he gets close and I think I heard him say "roar" when I asked him what the lion says. Mostly Jack just likes to crawl through the curtain at full speed like a bull (we have learned the hard way to make sure the door to the living room is open, not closed, when he charges through!)

This is a closeup of the puppets I spent hours upon hours making. I had originally seen them in a catalog and thought "I can totally make these and save money by doing it myself!" After the second week of spending several hours a night working on these 7 puppets, I started to question my original decision. You can't tell from the picture, but there is ALOT of detail that went into each animal. Looking back, I am so glad I stuck with it. And I actually saved about $60! The doorway theater was Mother's design and it was simple to put together. The rest of it is still on the ironing board waiting to be assembled, but the final product will have a top curtain with tiebacks and everything!

A Trip to Walmart

Yesterday John, Jack, and I went to Walmart for a grocery run. After we picked up a carton of eggs, spaghetti sauce, cheese, etc. I found myself following John and Jack to the "fun" side of Walmart. I have often said that going to Walmart with John doubles my grocery bill. This trip was no exception. We left Walmart with groceries, a new bath toy for Jack, a bubble making machine, two DVDS for Jack and a new TV for the kitchen! Here are some pictures of Jack enjoying his new bubble machine (the package says 200 bubbles a minute! Way more efficient that just the single wand he was used to!)

ummm . . . good good

Yes, it is true. This is how we got Jack to eat his broccoli in cheese sauce tonight. Ketchup makes everything better!
(I gave him some Mylicon before bedtime just in case)

Charity Ball Week

We are staying busy at the Frame household. This weekend is the annual Charity Ball for Junior Auxiliary and since I am in charge of the guest list, we are very focused on the task at hand.

Even Jack has been hard at work . . .

The Video

Finally! After several attempts at downloading this video, it seems to have worked! This was taken a week and a half ago on day two of walking. He is walking longer distances now and with more confidence. It's only a matter of time . . . enjoy!

Megan's Border Collie Stare

Look at this face . . .

This is what she does all day long . . . waiting for you to give her a task and begging for your undivided attention. What a dog!

He Walks!

We reached a milestone . . . finally! At 15.5 months old, Jack has decided that walking might not be so bad after all. Jack and I were practicing walking up and down the hallway yesterday while he was holding onto one of my hands. I let go and he just stood there looking at me. After a few seconds of high energy encouragement, he took one wobbly step forward, smiled, took another wobbly step forward, smiled even bigger, and then fell down on his bottom. I made a big fuss over it and he did it three more times--just long enough to call John in from outside so he could see it. Then he took his walker and made about 4 laps around the house using his safety net. What a good boy! We knew 2009 was going to be the year! I'm trying to get it on video so you all can see it.
