The first tomato of the season

I must confess that I haven't been dedicated to working in my garden this year, but it seems to be doing fine without too much attention. Low maintenance gardening ... I could get used to this!

This picture gives me hope ...

... that in spite of the fighting (Kate poked Jack in the eye one minute prior to snapping this picture) and in spite of the squabbling over toys (it's not like we don't have a million toys floating around this house) that Jack and Kate will always be friends.

Dragon Tails

Jack has had a recent interest in dragons . . . you know, sweet looking cartoon dragons, not the big scary ones with fire coming out of their mouths. Anyway, last year's Halloween costume has come out of the attic and resurfaced as a playtime activity and he has spent entire afternoons dressed as a dragon. So when a friend of my sister asked if I would make her son a dragon tail, I agreed knowing in the back of my mind that I would end up making several. The pattern (found here) was super easy and went together in less than an hour. They were a huge hit and the kids will wear them around the house as if it were the most natural thing in the world. John and I get a chuckle every time we see these pictures. More posts coming soon!
